NewYork-Presbyterian Leaders Named to Crain’s New York Business 2020 Notable in Health Care list

Staff gathers for the opening of the Ryan Larkin Field Hospital in Northern Manhattan in April of 2020.

Nine NewYork-Presbyterian leaders have been named to the Crain’s New York Business 2020 “Notable in Health Care” list, which recognizes outstanding individuals in the health care community who have made an impact on New York City in significant ways. This year, the list focused on the medical response to the COVID-19 pandemic and highlighted those who helped bend the region’s steep infection curve downward and are still working to alleviate the economic and humanitarian toll.

Crain’s recognized the following NewYork-Presbyterian leaders: Dr. Cara L. Agerstrand, director of the ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) program at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and associate professor of clinical medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons; Dr. Rahul Sharma, emergency physician-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine; Dr. Craig Spencer, director of global health in Emergency Medicine at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and assistant professor of emergency medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and of population and family health in the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health Program on Forced Migration and Health at Mailman School of Public Health; Dr. Adam R. Stracher, internist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, chief medical officer and director of primary care for the Weill Cornell Physician Organization, and associate dean of clinical affairs and associate professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine.

In addition to these individuals, Crain’s also recognized five members of the Ryan F. Larkin Field Hospital project team, all of whom came together to conceive, build, and begin operating—within less than a week’s time— a fully equipped field hospital dedicated to the care of COVID-19 patients from underserved neighborhoods of Northern Manhattan.

These team members include: Dr. Laureen Hill, senior vice president and chief operating officer at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center; Paul Dunphey, senior vice president and chief operating officer of NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital & the Ambulatory and Community Care Network; Joseph Ienuso, group senior vice president, Facilities and Real Estate; Noah Ginsberg, director of Laboratory Support Services, Cl Lab Services Administration; and Kate Kaley, administrative director, Oncology.
