NewYork-Presbyterian Earns Eight Emmy Award Nominations

NewYork-Presbyterian was nominated in six categories, including for best commercial campaign, commercial single spots, and several inspiring stories from NYP’s Health Matters.

NewYork-Presbyterian has received eight Emmy Award nominations across six categories, the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced on July 26.

“I could not be prouder that NewYork-Presbyterian’s marketing and communications team has earned eight Emmy nominations for the second year in a row,” says Devika Mathrani, senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer at NewYork-Presbyterian. “It’s an honor to capture and tell NewYork-Presbyterian’s amazing stories of incredible care and build loyalty to the brand. I’m so thrilled that our team’s skill, passion, and commitment have been recognized.”

Last year, in partnership with Havas New York, the healthcare system launched anthems that showcase NewYork-Presbyterian’s transplant program — the largest in the nation — as well as one highlighting innovation across the institution. Both Transplant and Future of Medicine anthems earned a nod in the commercial campaign category.

Additionally, three single-spot commercials were honored:

  • The commercial telling the story of Jack Foley, a boy born with half a heart who underwent three surgeries at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital to re-engineer how his heart pumps. Today, the teenager is a fierce hockey player who plays with all heart on the ice.
  • The commercial featuring Francis Mbappe, a professional musician who was suffering from liver failure. Thanks to a successful liver transplant at NewYork-Presbyterian, Mpappe is now back on the stage and feeling the rhythm like never before.
  • The commercial that salutes our nurses, depicting their superpowers in delivering patient care.

Two Health Matters stories that showcase the innovation and compassion of our care teams were also nominated. The department’s creative and editorial team produced these pieces.

  • In the category of health/medical (short form), NewYork-Presbyterian received a nomination for Saving Two Babies’ Lives With One Pioneering Approach to Heart Valve Transplantation. The video tells the story of a first-of-its-kind “domino” transplant in infants. In the innovative procedure, cardiac surgeons at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital performed a heart transplant in one baby, and then transplanted valves from her old heart into another infant — saving two lives and paving the way to save more.
  • In the category of human interest (short form), A Day in the Life of a Doula at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital was honored. With an intimate look at the day of doula Kerri Evers, the video shows how this unique doula program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital support parents through labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

NewYork-Presbyterian also received individual recognition in the director and editor short form categories. Senior video producer Laura Swalm was acknowledged for her work as director for A Day in the Life of a Doula and ‘The Greatest Act of Love’, a story about how a husband donated a piece of his liver to his wife. Editor Katie Garrett also received a nomination for her work on the story about the domino transplant.

“It’s a joy to tell the stories of our extraordinary patients and our compassionate care teams,” says Sharon Cotliar-Zweifach, vice president of editorial content and social media strategy at NewYork-Presbyterian. “I’m so proud of our team and it’s always an honor to be recognized for our work.”

The 67th Annual New York Emmy Awards ceremony will be held October 26.
