NewYork-Presbyterian has earned seven Emmy Award nominations, the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced on June 30. It is the most ever Emmy nominations for NewYork-Presbyterian, which was recognized in six categories.

The healthcare system’s new brand platform and campaign “Stay Amazing” is nominated for best commercial, along with five powerful stories that showcase the resilience of our patients and the expertise and compassion of our doctors and care teams.

“I am thrilled to congratulate NewYork-Presbyterian’s marketing and communications team for their seven Emmy nominations,” says Devika Mathrani, senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer of NewYork-Presbyterian. “The nominations are a testament to our team’s creativity, commitment, and skill in capturing NewYork-Presbyterian’s amazing stories and creating loyalty to our brand, and I could not be more proud.”

Launched in November 2021, “Stay Amazing” encourages New Yorkers to be proactive about their health by seeking care from NewYork-Presbyterian’s leading providers — our world-class doctors from Columbia and Weill Cornell Medicine — whether for common conditions or complex ones. The goal of this commercial, which communicates our brand promise, is to remind New Yorkers that we are here for them as their wellness partner, at every stage of their lives, so they can stay amazing.

NewYork-Presbyterian’s Health Matters was also recognized for five other stories, produced by the department’s creative and editorial team.

  • For sports content (short form), the story of a ‘Magical’ Marathon Moment earned a nod. Mark Carles, a former distance runner who was battling terminal cancer, had one wish: to watch his brother, David, cross the finish line at the NYC Marathon. Watch how Mark’s care team at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center helped Mark realize his dream.
  • For health/medical content (short form), the story Three New Organs, One New Life: The Remarkable Story of a Triple-Transplant Recipient was recognized. The story tells of the first-ever triple organ transplant in New York state. Raymond Fermin received two new lungs, a liver, a kidney — and a new chance at life at age 24 thanks to a 23-hour surgery performed by a multidisciplinary care team at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
  • In the category of human interest content (short form), the journey of the Jalloh sisters, conjoined twins from Sierra Leone, was nominated. Nine days before the COVID-19 outbreak hit New York City, a team of 30 leading surgeons and specialists successfully separated the conjoined twins at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in a nine-hour surgery. Our story followed the girls from the operating room to their remarkable recovery. Emily Driscoll, lead video producer on NewYork-Presbyterian’s marketing and communications team, was also nominated as best director for the piece.
  • For branded content, NewYork-Presbyterian received two nominations:
    • In Tragedy & Healing: Inside the Burn Center on 9/11, the team at the William Randolph Hearst Burn Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center reflects on caring for patients in the wake of the World Trade Center attacks and the healing that followed.
    • Dr. Tomoaki Kato’s Amazing Comeback from COVID is an inspiring story about how our physicians and care teams at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center rallied together to save one of their own. And how, after nearly dying from COVID-19 in 2020, Dr. Kato, a world-renowned transplant surgeon, triumphantly completed the 2021 NYC Marathon.

“Our creative and editorial team takes great pride in bringing to life stories that highlight the extraordinary care and compassion of our physicians, nurses and care teams and the resilience of our patients,” says Sharon Cotliar-Zweifach, vice president of editorial content and social media strategy of NewYork-Presbyterian. “I couldn’t be prouder of our team and this wonderful recognition of everyone’s efforts in the Office of Marketing and Communications.”

The 65th Annual New York Emmy Awards ceremony will be held in October.
